Hi All,
Switch pc on at mains and lights come on, but when I press power switch on power unit nothing happens? I cannot hear fan working and am thinking it might need a new fan?
Any other problems I should be looking at?
Regards

Aaah now my Brother had the exact same problem and that turned out to be the PSU
Power Supply Unit costs about £20ish easy to fit yourself or about £60 at a shop.0 -
Do the cdroms open when turned on?
Does the monitor turn on?0 -

CDroms open yes, but only when you press the cdrom button. Monitor just says no signal going to sleep.

Could be the PSU but if the CD stil opens, possibly not. Maybe the CPU or memoryhas come loose.
Can you opent the case (after removing the power cable) and try reseating them.0 -

Hi All,
Took casing off, full of dust gave it a good clean couldn't find anything loose. Pushed all the connections in, put it back together and now it works.
Thanks for all your input.

Sounds like the PSU is dying....
Either that or your hardware is overheating.0 -
