I use the fruit boxes from supermarkets, it means they stack, and you can check them over occasionally so that if there is a bad one you can get them before they make the rest bad, and I use them for all harvested veg whilst they are drying out or hanging around.

And they are free. We keep them in the shed at the lottie.

I bag mine from farm shops and places that sell loose seed potatoes. They all get delivered in hessian bags and I find that there are stacks about, either free for the taking or for a nominal fee, usually about 20p. But I don't just use hessian, in fact I think the best thing for potatoes is a brown paper sack, either re-used after buying muddy potatoes or scrounged from the same (very understanding) farm shop, who neatly opened and saved me a few after I asked. For onions, I use tights knotted after each onion.

    Hiya,

I got some hessian sacks from Poundland if you have one near you. They were available in green and brown and there was plenty there the last time I was in.

Sorry can't help about the onion nets.

If you are a regular at a chippy, restaurant or Takeaway that sells Chinese food, you could ask there.
Chippies will be throwing away dozens of brown paper potato sacks every week.
Some rice comes in paper sacks now, but often they may get their rice in 20kg or even 40kg hessian sacks.
