I live in Stockbroker belt and salon prices here are extortionate - £40 for a child's dry cut. I take them to the hairdressers that I used as a child which charge £15 for a wet cut and rough blow dry. For my daughter's birthday I treated her to a proper cut, wash and blow dry and it came to £22. Last time I had my haircut I went to the local Technical College and it cost me £2 for a wash, cut and blow-dry. She made a very good job of it but it took all morning as everything had to be checked and she had to be shown how to layer my hair and she took her time making sure she got it right. If I got a babysitter for the morning I would probably do it again.

  • I only get mine cut twice a year, its long, blonde and halfway between wavy and curly, and only needs the ends triming every so often, but i go to the barbers with my granddad when i take him, she just trims the ends off, after spraying with water, costs me £5 a time, mind you i have to say the barber is female, and the shop is quite nice otherwise i wouldn't risk it.

I used to go to a hairdresser when i was a student, they charged £9.50 for a cut and blow-dry. That was about 4 yrs ago. Now i go to another Salon and they charge £18.50 for the same but they are top-notch and i wouldn't trust my hair with anyone else now

I haven't been to a hairdresser since losing my job. Have visited barbers in the past, but have a very short hair style anyway.
Now, I keep my hair fairly short and spiky by cutting it myself every 4-6 weeks, Just twist sections of the hair and hack away!
BTW, I do actually get compliments on my hair - I don't look like a complete eejit. :)
some people grin and bear it, others smile and do it :)

:hello: I took my 19mth old son to the barbers for the first time yesterday - it cost me £5.50 which I thought was alot as that's what they charge my OH when they do his. Had a big lump in my throat when they cut all his baby curls off though (son not OH :) )

my friend cut my hair just before i came down to aylesbury only wanted the fringe cutting as it had got very long and unruly. she normally very good but on this occasion i was getting all her woes abt the kids husband dog budgie etc. when she had finished i got home and could have cried what a mess .. anyway decided whilst down aylesbury i would check out a local hairdressers for when i move down in july.. the girl did a good job mending it etc.. when i said how much she said oh thats a cut and finish and will be £32 nearly fainted.. in peterborough it would have cost me approx £25 or less.. i was so shocked i never paid her a tip and she did deserve one.. im going to have to shop around for hairdressers in aylesbury unless anyone knows of a decent one.. might check out the local college see if they do it cheaply..

A hairdresser told my OH that when she worked in a POSH salon she was told to cut hair slowly so clients thought they were getting value 4 money. Does anyone know if this is true?
