I agree with KimYeovil. I always bought my earphones as a child/teenager, when I had my walkman, and then discman, and then minidisc player, and they lasted me well. I made sure i put them in the carry case, and wrapped the up neatly.

as the Seinnheisers are reasonably priced, then I'd try a pair of them, tell him he needs to be more careful and if he breaks them in the next month or so, he'll have to buy his own!!!

    suddenly, they'll last a year!

I've still got my yellow Sony waterproof "fontopia" headphones with the special wind up case which I had when I was a teenager, a good 20 years old, and still occasionally use them, perfect condition!

That was a piece of technology with auto-reverse! My first was a huge red Sanyo i the 1980s taking 4 AAs and weighing a ton! My Sony Sports-Walkman though was a design classic, still have it and it works perfectly! (No auto-reverse though, still too early on for that!)

Highly recommend the JVC Gumy F120s. They are very sturdy and have a really nice feel to them (name describes the fell of them perfectly). They are made by a big company so you know they are of a good quality, and are also very cheap at £5 a pair. I currently use them with my iTouch and they fit my ears perfectly. Have been knocked about a bit, and once knocked out of the casing, but still work as if they were new. I am very tempted to 'upgrade' to F130s, after knowing what a great set of headphones their predecessors were.

  • My dd doesn't look after hers either. I bought up all the stock at Woolwrths before they closed 29p a pair. I think she is on the 3rd now. When she runs out she is on her own though.

i once listened to a pair of JVC headphones that are described above, but the sound quality from the apple pair that come with the ipod is actually better...

must research what this iTouch people keep talking about.. must be a new product from a company trying to get into Apples market share and the iPod Touch product, just to confuse people
