You can get little battery operated candles that look just like tealights if you're having a kids party and want some spooky atmospheric lighting. My mam got a pack of 6 from the poundshop ages ago but don't know if they still have them in there? They have a little switch on the bottom, would be good for putting inside carved pumpkins or jamjars outside too as they won't get blown out by the wind every two seconds.

For lights in the room try Christmas lights - at least you'll know they all work come 25 Dec and you can loop them wherever you want the light giving bits of darkness for the ghouls!!!
For small brown bags - why not use envelopes? Probably cheaper.
Best of luck - I'm still thinking about it - shall I shan't I?Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
poundland have small battery operated halloween fairy lights - just got two lots, pumpkins and eery eyeballs, for my sons halloween birthday party.
They've got some gruesome looking paper plates and cups too.0 -
Oh no, be careful! Images of firemen running in and you saying well I was just trying it out for the MSErs!! :rotfl:

No I realised when I typed that , I'd worded it wrong. No I just meant to use paper lampshades without tealights or anything and just string them up as a decoration. No naked flames near the shades!!!
:rotfl:Doh...silly me...:rotfl:

Must have a look for these in my local poundshops. I'm always terrified some poor kid in a highly flammable costume goes too close to my carved pumpkins on the doorstep and goes whoosh. Battery operated would be far safer, good for the local kids nursery to use when they have their Halloween party. That reminds me I need to think of a costume for my DS for that party...right I'm off onto Martha Stewarts website for a look for ideas.0 -

They're dead good, I don't like using candles in the house because I'm scared I'll burn the place down so they're ideal :rotfl:

Found some Asda Smartprice round paper lampshades reduced to 75p each today (only a 25p saving but better than nothing). Just got three and will try and paint them orange and then put a face on with a sharpie. Hopefully they won't disintegrate when I paint them. If it works I'll post a pic. Will hang them near my front door for Halloween just for some decoration.0

I've been experimenting with making a severed arm cake for my son. This is the first attempt, the hand is made of jelly with strawberry laces inside (I would like it to be more green in colour). The arm is made of swiss roll and icing, I've threaded some strawberry laces inside for veins/tendons. I've used crumbled up choc muffin for the soil.0 -
In Aldi they are currently doing an offer on 30 bags of individual haribos sweets for 99p - limited to 3 per customer - but these would mike nice cheap "treats"0
