Well then? This would be like buying a ferrari and them saying; oh well we found out the V8 broke the drive shafts so we just put this lawnmower engine in instead. 99% of the people wont tell the difference and we save money on drive shaft replacements!!!:rotfl:0

it doesn't seem to take them that long to increase the price though!

but you have to buy the equipment, so what's the cost once you factor that it in?

Well to distill on a personal use level the lab-size distillation equipment would not exceed £200.

120 degrees c for petrol distillates
270 degrees c for diesel distillatesThis would be like buying a ferrari and them saying; oh well we found out the V8 broke the drive shafts so we just put this lawnmower engine in instead. 99% of the people wont tell the difference and we save money on drive shaft replacements!!!:rotfl:0 -

And personel too? And it's not like the equipment is exactly cheap is it?
I've heard figures such as 20 years in order to make enough profit from refining fuel to pay for the refinery.0 -
and you still need to put some addititves in afterwards.
Kit for processing used cooking oil and such into "bio" diesel costs 4 figures and requries additives. You have to be a fairly high mileage driver to benefit in a reasonable time.0 -
I'm not sure in the difference in the dollar to pound ratio between now and 5 weeks ago, but just because the cost of oil has gone down in dollars, does not mean it has come down in pounds.0

It's currently trading at around $10 per barel less than it was a month ago.
Like others I do see quite a bit of inertia in the downward direction for fuel prices. i.e. The forecourt prices go up quickly and often, but the reductions are slow to come through. You can usually bet that if the oil price causes the price of petrol to increase by 10p a fall back to the same oil price will not result in a 10p drop again.0 -
surely prices should come down by now!0
