Redundant...but could I get offered my job back?

The company with which I've had my job with for the last 4 years cut my team in half, from 6 to 3 people. I was 4th in the rankings upon interview and therefore was notified I was being made redundant. I'm currently 3 weeks into my 6 week notice period and have been released and am working in a temporary job elsewhere. I haven't been asked to sign anything and am due to get my remaining pay and redundancy pay on 15th July.

One of the guys who kept his job has been offered another and is about to hand his notice in.

So they legally have to offer me the job?
What happens to my pay etc. if I decide I don't want it?

Any advice would be aprreciated.
The world is a crazy place!

I take it that you will get your redundancy pay etc on the normal monthly run? I note you state you are 3 weeks into your 6 weeks notice period but yet you are working? Are they not paying you in lieu of notice as you have been released?

When was your last day working for them?

If you post this information would help.

They called this afternoon and offered it me back. They've said that if I choose not to it won't impact on anything at all.
I'm due the redundancy pay etc on the normal monthly run and they're effectively paying me in lieu of notice. I've been released but not signed anything and am therefore working elsewhere. My old company know all about me working for the other people and it's in their interest to let me as the new employers are partners of my old company.

Looks like I'll be fine when I tell them to stick it!

You're going to tell them to stick it, even if they offer you the job back? Are you sure that's the wisest thing to do, especially as you say your new role is temporary?

And all for the sake of a few hundred quid redundancy payment?

    Good luck with that!

Once you have been given notice both sides need to agree for it to be withdrawn so as they have said if you don't take up the offer from them to withdraw the notice they continue with the termination and payments as agreed.

I would politely decline and keep your options open for the future
