patronising email

I've just had a patronising little email from a buyer thanking me for his item that arrived today and very carefully explaining to me that here in England we spell Keith with an ei, whereas I have spelt it 'ie'. He said I might find it useful in future as although he is OK about it and his item arrived safely, others may be offended by my use of the English language and I need to be more careful.

Fair enough I'm sure you are all thinking, except that I print my postage labels direct from the paypal notes, so the spelling error is his, not mine.I've just checked again in case I am going mad and my printer has been possessed, but nope, he has spelt it Kieth.

I was going to hold off replying for a while as I am a bit irritated and my emails sound grumpy. I had though though that a brief response explaining that I print my labels direct and that he appears to have inadvertently spelt his own name wrong, and for future reference he might find it quicker to change it himself in paypal rather than risk all sellers sending mail with the name spelt wrong. Trouble is I can't resist adding something along the lines of, 'whilst some names do look as though they are spelt incorrectly I always assume that buyers can spell their own names correctly . Obviously it did not occur to me that you were unable to spell Keith, and I apologise for not correcting your error.

I think I'll wait until he leaves feedback first.

I'd send a copy of the Paypal address too. Some people really need more important things in their life to worry about. Keith/Kieth doesn't suit him anyway, he's obviously much more of a 'Victor'.

    "Dear Keith
We take feedback from our buyers very seriously and as a result, stick carefully to the regulations which PayPal outlines when sending items. We know how easy it is to make mistakes when writing name and address details so always endeavour to make use of the ingenious 'copy and paste' facility which our computers provide. As such, we 'copy and paste' buyers details directly from their PayPal information so rest assured, the information you provide will always be used.
    Sincerely"

What a cheek! How funny that he has spelt it wrong himself - definitely e-mail back and let him know, I'd love to be a fly on the wall to see his bright red face when he reads it.

    What a dork!!!!!!!!!
