Sunscreen in hand luggage

We are flying hand luggage only, and was wondering if a 200ml squirty bottle of sunscreen inside our hand luggage is likely to be confiscated.

Yes, it has to be 100ml or less, separate the 200ml into 2 bottles of 100ml and it is OK.

Probably but just remember to buy it in the boots after passport control in the duty free area and not before hand or you'll have that confiscated as well. I can never get my head round why they sell lotions before passport control!!!!!!!

The BOGOF will only help you if you use a lot of sunscreen. Otherwise you will be faced with the same problem on the return journey.

Boots certainly have the 3 for 2 and BOGOF offers airside (after security). However, I would advise you to buy it in advance from a discount toiletries shop eg Home Bargains, where you will save up to 80% on Boots prices. Simply put cellotape or masking tape around the neck and top of the bottle, wrap it in a carrier bag and put it in your hold luggage.

The saving in not having hold luggage may be outweighed by the cost of the suntan lotion, except if you're travelling Ryanir!

I have never bought sun tan cream or lotion in Portugal; nor have I ever had a spillage - and I travel at least once a month.

If you don't buy it beforehand you'll be worried sick at check in and security. Why let something like this spoil the start of your holiday?

Mind you saying that, I got on a plane recently and realised that I had a huge bottle of Evian in my hand luggage.... gone completely unnoticed. Doesn't give me much confidence in Manchester Airport security!

That happened with me too but in the Philly airport. I forgot I had put 2 full size tubes of toothpaste in my carry on bag and they didn't even care/notice  and then when I got home I was like  They never pulled me aside to check the bag at security or anything. Hmmm.
