Hi, I thought i would keep you updated on my claim from Natwest. I wrote to them in April requesting that they repay bank charges,I enclosed an income and expenditure form. I still hadnt heard at the beginning of June so i rang them and they said they were looking into it. After another couple of weeks of nothing i rang them again and they asked me to do another form over the phone and then send more photocopied proof of income etc(obviously lost the first lot).
Anyway 4 days later they sent a letter offering £2,235
I actually requested £2950 and £690 interest total £3640.
The letter also says that accepting this offer does not prevent you from benefitting if the decision of the court case is more advantageous to you.
I presume this means that if the court rules in favour of unfair charges then I can claim the balance.
At the moment i owe £2000 to Natwest overdraft that i pay £1 per month and i have £250 arrears on mortgage with them so this money will just pay them off.
I think i will accept it, what do you lot think????

hey well done to you, u make it sound so easy. im just lookin round for some advice about my natwest accounts too, im now on job seeking you see, and could really do with my bank charges money back, did you ask them for an expenditure form or did you do a do it yourself list? also, did you have to pay £10 to get your bank statements and run thru them yourself as to how much they owe you? sorry about the questions and hope you dont mind me jumpin in your thread like this xxxxxxxxx
im not sure about taking that amount from them, being as its nearly a thousand pounds that theyd owe you still, but on the other hand, it would more or less help with a problem mostly wouldnt it? xx0 -
hey, ask away i will help if i can. At first i did send £10 and request a list of charges but some people have got away with ringing up first to request them and then havent paid anything so it might be worth trying that first. I then went through them myself with a marker pen, and i used the bank charge calculator on this site.I also sent them a income and expenditure form( i typed this myself from word or spreadsheets, cant remember, not too good on computers). When you send a letter requesting these charges back remember to do it recorded delivery. If you dont hear in a couple of weeks, then give them a ring, (honestly if i can do it, anyone can), I was surprised at how easy it was and its money i wasnt expecting to get back anyway.0

I think you should accept this because I make it that you are short by about £15 ie natwest overdraft plus arrears.....will they suspend charges and interest for the next few months? That might be helpful for them to do....0 -
Hi,
How long did they take with an offer after they accepted you were in financial difficulty?0 -
Natwest seemed to mislay my first lot of forms because after first writing to them at beginning of April and hearing nothing by June, I rang them and they apologised for it taking so long and said i should hear that week. When i never heard anything i rang them again and they said they would speak to head office. The next morning i got a call from them asking to go over the in/exp forms again and to send details and proof. I faxed these through at the nearest branch the same day and 4 days later i got an offer.Dont know if the fact that i owe it all to them anyway made the process any quicker or if the phonecalls helped ( i was polite, not bolshy)to make sure they hadnt forgotten me.0
