Advise required RE Barclaycard

in Credit cards
Hello all,
I am seeking advice regarding the way my account has been treated by Barclaycard. When I made the original request for the credit card I am fairly sure that I completed a direct debit form. Each month I received a bill but no direct debit had been set up. I was therefore relying on logging in to my online account to pay off the card when I received a payment request via SMS. Three months into having the account I missed a payment and Barclaycard in their infinite wisdom decided to half the limit of the card. I called and explained the situation but had no joy. Oh well I thought. I have since checked my account and found that they have started charging my interest, even though I am within the interest free period of the account. They offered to refund one month as a good will gesture but I'm not really happy about this. I don't think I ever received a full set of terms and conditions in the post because I did the application online, they just sent the card with a letter detailing my credit limit. So what I'm asking is can I get this reverted? I've been given the address for an Elaine Mockler (Director of Sales and Services) but I would like to make my case water tight before I dive in to an argument via correspondence.
They say there is no information about a direct debit, how can I check if I did complete it, and that they have just lost it? Neglected to use it? If I can ascertain that I did provide the details will I be able to get this resolved?
Thanks in advance,
Dan.

There is a click-thru box saying "I confirm I have read the Terms and Conditions" on the online application. If you didn't actually read them, that isn't the fault of Barclaycard. In them, it clearly states you will forfeit any promotional rates if you fail to keep up repayments.
Most card providers operate the same scheme.
"If you do not make at least the minimum payment by the payment due date or if you exceed your credit limit at any time we will remove the promotional rate and revert to charging at your standard purchase interest rate (typical rate 12.4% APR variable)."Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

I appreciate this, but what about the direct debits?0

I appreciate this, but what about the direct debits?
According to Barclaycard:
"Any changes to your bank details made within 12 working days of your next payment date may also not take effect until after your next payment is collected. "
If you got to circa 90 days (ie the 3 months quoted - am assuming 3 calendar months, if 3 statements obviously it'll be longer) without payment being taken by Direct Debit surely you should have queried if the Direct Debit had been processed if you want to attempt to use this as a defence? -
Although given the standard details re: please pay your bill manually until informed that your DD is in operation on your monthly statement I don't know how you can argue unless you did not receive a monthly bill and were unble to access it online.0 -

If you decide to apply online and "sign" electronically, print a copy for your records. It's important to have a record of the Ts & Cs you're signed up toPeople who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
I have since checked my account and found that they have started charging me interest, even though I am within the interest free period of the account.
Doesn't only apply to B'card, btw. In the current climate, all lenders are applying their Ts & Cs strictly.
B'card will normally reinstate your introductory rate(s), provided that it's a "first offence" and you ask nicely. You were offered a refund as well which, from feedback here, is fairly exceptional.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0
