Hi all,
This forum has been a revelation for me in recent weeks so thanks in advance for your help.
My current situation is as follows:
- Offer accepted
- Mortgage in place
- Finance in place
- Positive survey but a number of points from the snagging report that I would like to be put right before going ahead.
How should I take the next step? I phoned my solicitor but he is away until next Monday and I was wondering whether the request for the snagging issues to be resolved needs to come through him or whether this is something I personally need to do. My instinct is to wait for our solicitor to return but I thought I'd ask the experts on here first.
Also would now be too early to arrange buildings insurance or is that better sorted out after the snag issues are resolved?
Trying to remain clinical and not get too excited but step by step I'm getting nearer to my own house!

Is this a new house you're buying? I suspect it is with you talking about snagging lists. Probably better to wait for solicitor to return as solicitor is soon back.
Wait until you know completion date before arranging insurance. Often when you get competitive/discounted quotes they last for a period of 30 days. You didn't mention contents insurance, so hope you're thinking of taking that out too? Often combined contents/buildings with same provider can work out cheaper than going separate.
Go on give way to the excitement, it's not good to keep it in as you may burst!
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
Sound advice thanks Cattie. We had looked at buildings and contents and found some good quotes but I agree it's better to hold fire on agreeing anything.
It is a new property and I have everything crossed it will soon be mine!!!0
