Amex Platinum Cashback - Cashback calculation

Just getting near to the end of the 5% cashback 3 month period. I've realised that I have spent more than £2500 in the last 3 months. The 5% cashback is limited to a maximum of £100. Will I receive any cashback on my purchases over £2000 in this 3 month period?
Also regarding the tiered % rates for the year. I realise that all spending for the year counts toward the tiering, but does the cashback rate calculated from the spending total apply to the whole amount spent or does it mean the first £3500 is paid at 0.5% then anything over £3500 is paid back at 1% etc?
Does the annual cash back calculation only apply to the amount spent over and above the initial 5% cashback expenditure total? If it doesn't then you would be effectively getting at least 5.5% on those first purchases.

To be sure you need to phone Amex.
The number is on the back of your card.
It's a geographical number and UK call center, so there isn't really any reason not to call them but AFAIK
1) I would expect you to get 0.5% on the excess rather than zero
2) The later. You'll only get 0.5% on the first £3.5K regardless of how high up the scale you go.
3) Yes, it's starts after your first £2K and I believe you start at zero for that purpose and not £2500, so your promotional spend does not count towards the tiers.
That's all my understanding, but you would need to check with AMEX to be 100% sure.0 -
I asked the same question of Amex and the spend during the first three months does move you through the tiers. And when my anniversary cashback came it reflected this.0

I asked AMEX about this and they told me over the phone that the initial spend DID move you through the tiers.
When my cashback came it had NOT.
I got 0.5% and not 1%.
It's always possible they have changed it though, which is why you really need to ring them to find out, as information on here might be out of date.0 -
I moved directly from 5% to 1% tier skipping the 0.5% tier because of the higher spend during the 5% phase - this was early this year (Jan-April).0
