Scrappage Scheme Bump Starts Car Sales

why would you need insurance between order and delivery, you arent liable for the car until you take ownership of it?
Or do you mean insurance to cover things like redundancy, etc. between signing for the car and collecting it?

I THINK she means the car she has now that is being part exed..It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -

have you asked your own insurance company then? as most are prepared to cover the £2k scrappage allowance if a write-off situation should occur, between order and delivery
If they wont cover you, then dont bother making a claim on your insurance - that way it wont be classed a write-off and you can still go ahead with the scheme, as the dealers dont need to try and get moneyback on the car, it is being scrapped after all

yep - I was meaning my existing insurance for just the time inbetween. Hadn't thought about it like that - My existing company needn't know if such a thing should happen and it can go for scrappage anyway - I guess?!

Sorry - a bit unclear. I am up for renewal on my own existing (10 yr old banger) which I have signed over.... but don't collect the new one until September. Obviously the value to me now is considerably more because they have given me £2,500 for the scrappage deal and paid a deposit.0 -

can you live without a car between renewal and collection, if so i think i would hand-over the scrappage car early, and just get insurance sorted for the new car, once i had a confirmed delivery date. or unless you need a car for every trip, in the short-term it might be easier to put the car under Sorn, and use taxis/public transport, as to eliminate any possible insurance write-off problems
