3 - being in negative monthly balance of £ 897 per month

Can I clarify something. I don't work for NatWest and haven't done so since February 2009. I post a lot on this forum and have had conversations with the FOS with regards to Financial Hardship and how it works.
The basic criteria is having priority debt arrears which are not being repaid back through payment plans. However, this is not necessarily fixed in stone.

Personally, I would use what I would call the harrass them technique, ie ring every single day if need be for an update and talk about stress of Priority debts etc.etc. If they reject you for hardship they have to write to you with a reason regardless of anything, If they accept you they do not have to refund charges however they may make an interim payment which may not be 100% of the claim but it is not a full and final settlement either. That means that if they offer £20 the rest is still on the table(am not saying they will or whether the figure is not derisory either).
I hope this kinda helps. Initially it looks possible and fingers are crossed for you dependent on household income.
