I responded to this barnaby. I tallied up the cost of our day (yes I have receipts still) and it came to £1200. Now, I thought we did this on a budget cos half the stuff I made at minimal costs. I actually think £1200 is alot!!!

Reception food and hire of room for ceremony £694
    2 occasion gateaux/cakes. £14.00 Asda.
    Registrar fee £150
My dress and bridesmaids dresses £30 (This was fabric costs as I made them myself)
My shoes £30 Bombay stores Bradford.
    Girls shoes £20 (as above)
My tiara and bridesmaids tiaras (no costs as I already had wire and crystals to make them)
Husbands suit etc £250 Jeff Banks at Debenhams.
Flowers and buttonholes. Selection of roses from supermarket £5.00. Ivy pinched from local hedgerows!
Wedding cake -I made this myself.
Photographs. Nothing. Friends took pictures and then gave us the disc.
Transport. Nothing. We drove and friends followed.

So, the most expensive bit was the venue. Food £344 room hire £350
