Price Comparision Engines - Inaccurate???

I'm with Atlantic Gas/Elec and when I use Uswitch.com comparison engine it tells me that I'd be better off (£250+/year) with EDF energy or NPower (similar savings).

However, if I type NPower or EDF as my current supplier, then the savings are misleading. Its telling me that if I was to switch to Atlantic, I'd be worse off by about £24/year. How can this be?????

Does anybody trust these comparison engines? Would be interested in your feedback.

Because you have to put your current correct tarriff in to compare and some of the tarriffs they quote savings against are not available to current customers. There are a lot of threads on here on this subject and the general concensus is that you use the comparison sites as a guide and then do your own research.
