Tesco Garden Furniture - Woodworm

Options
Hi all,

I bought a hardwood set last year, and noticed at the start of this season it had woodworm holes appearing in it. I have treated with Cuprinol but I am sure more holes are still appearing.

I noticed the same set my sister in law had, also had some holes appearing.

Has anyone else had this ? A web search found a set from Asda that was riddled out of the box.

I havent approached Tesco yet, firstly I don't quite fancy carting all that furniture back, secondly I guess it would be impossible to prove it was a problem at the point of sale, as opposed to afterwards.

I'm not sure what to do, I am a bit worried that it could infect my house if left in the vicinity.

Give Tesco's customer service a ring and explain the situation. If you personally know of another set that has woodworm then the chances are that they will have come across many more.

Be civil and they will be nice back. So tell them that you tried to have a conversation with the worms but they didn't understand you so they must be from foreign lands :-)

Which Cuprinol product did you use?
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

You're right, I might try Dundee, I dont think I would get far with the store customer services though.

You need to apply a MINIMUM of two coats for this to be affective, only putting one coat on is as much use at not doing it at all...

Personally, I would always treat with an extra coat (so three in total) to make sure. I can't see how this is Tesco's fault, if you haven't followed the manufacturers instructions...

By supplying dodgy furniture that is already infested with woodworm. They dont advertise it as furniture that might be infected with woodworm otherwise they would cross sell Cuprinol next to it.

Ive sent a light hearted letter to see if they can do anything with it. I'll post back when they respond.

Oh, so you can catagorically prove that the woodworm was in the furniture when you bought it? If that is the case, why did you keep it so long before doing anything about it?
