Not a nice subject but thought i should ask!
When we got him he was on Whiskas adult food although we only noticed after buying the kitten stuff.., the man i think back now didnt seem to worry about kitten food but we figured he should be on it..he was put on whiskas kitten pouches and has been a bit unsettled since..for the first few days he was ok then fri night and last night we had the lovely job of cleaning a downstairs toilet covered in poo footprints!..just as i had cleaned it he did it again and it's wearing me down tbh as have to clean him too which he hates and leave him in there drying off and crying..
Don't know what to do for the best as in switching him back to adult food or mixing the 2 or carrying on with the ktten food..not sure it is this at all but he asnt had anything else so?
Any ideas please..thanks

when did you change him over? did you do the change gradually or did you just switch immediately to kitten food? a switch in diet can cause an upset tummy. maybe give your vet a ring to seek advice. kittens can become ill very quickly with dire-rear / runny poops!0

Hi we did do it automatically the first day we had him, we didnt realsie he was on adults food until he had a bad tummy though and we ruled options out and thats the only one we can think of..
What's the best thing to do, mix some adult in with the kitten? our vets not actually open at the mo to calls so wondered if anyone had advice on here?
Thanks0 -
You should feed him plain boiled chicken until his stomach settles and then gradually introduce the kitten food by mixing it in with the boiled chicken. I would recommend using something other than whiskers though because it always gave my kitten the runs - it's not a high quality product. You should also ring the vet's for advise when you can. Hope that helps.House saving Targets:

I've had an issue with whiskers. Any of the 'oh so meaty/fishy' give my big cat a fuuny tummy, the normal are ok. At the moment he will only eat Tiger from Asda.
With an older cat I would give plenty of water and no food for around 8 hours to allow system to clear. Would then feed a light meal of chicken, about half the size of usual portion to make sure he could handle it. With it being a kitten it may be best to check with your vet just incase its something more serious.0 -
when mine did this, i got farex... baby rice (powdered) mixed some up with water, and that sorted them, my vet lived accross the road and she was a common sense lady, she said rice was calming on the gut and 24 hours of farex would sort it. then i mixed cat food with farex 50 50 for a few weeks as kitten food didnt exist then.
hope this helps

Yup, all mine had issues with wiskas.. as such we dont use any more.
When they got the 'dire rear' (heh heh heh) we went gown the plain chicken route and made sure they were drinking plenty.
But keep a eye as kittens can go down hill damned fast!

Hey
First of all kittens can become not well very quickly when they have an upset tum as we found out with one of ours take him to the vet if you can. Firstly don't stop feeding him as his blood sugars could drop and he could crash , you could give plain chicken or white fish a try also avoid kitten foods that are in gravy as it can contribute to runny poo stick to the jelly ones instead. Make sure he has plenty of fluids available.
Can ask how old he is?
HTHNew house, garden and kitten. oh my!

ring your vet - I see from your other posts he is only about 9 weeks old.0

Hi thanks for the replys..well we left him that night and decided if anymore we would take him to the vets, nothing, dh thinks it was the boiling heat i think it was the food, even still he has been eating and drinking normally and normal poo again! so all is well..he will have his jabs soon so will get him checked over then as policy has 10 day excclusion so not taking him for the fun of it till then unless something is wrong. We have begun weaning him from the adult food to the kitten by mixin and that's going ok too.
Thanks again.0
