I read a post somewhere about Hollywood dreams and Landy. Hollywood dreams are quite corseted. Landy may not provide the adequate boning as proper corsetry is very rigid. This is why you pay so much for certain dresses. Below is an image of an offshore "corset" type dress lifted from the sewing forum I belong to. I think it's a gamble especially depending on the type of gown you are after. (well, I would show the image if it let me. If you need to see it PM me and I'll direct you to the link.

    Here is the response.

    "Hiya missdan-yello,
    welcome!
Be very careful about ordering a heavily corsetted dress from a chinese company.
Part of the reason that, for example, Hollywood Dreams dresses are so expensive is because of the corsetry, there is no way that the Chinese companies can offer the same standard of corsetry for the price.
I came accross a thread showing the difference, it's Austrian so all comments are in German but you can see clearly the difference in the quality of the corsetry.

The price difference is vast and it may be that buying a seperate corset will have the desired effect.
The decision is entirely up to you, I haven't dealt with either company but my daughter is thinking of using them hence my researching. Hope you don't mind, I'm just furnishing informaton that I've come accross. I'm sure brides who've bought similar dresses will be along with their verdict shortly."

No, they don't look terrible but you can see the difference. The bodice should be smooth not slightly wrinkled. I do agree they look rather nice but it's down to what you are after and how you want to look.

They don't look awful but they are not the fully corsetted bodice that Hollywood Dreams and Maggie Sottero are renowned for.
Hollywood Dreams are so firm that they can stand up on their own, the ones in the forum wouldn't do that.
However with Landy prices a zero at least short of a genuine dress, as long as you weren't expecting the same quality corsetry then it may be worth the risk.

I can see what you mean Linda.

Miss K remember that people will not be standing with a pic of the original on your wedding day so they will never notice all the little differences between the original and copy. I think it's worth the risk as long as your not expecting the same quality for a 10th of the price.

I don't think the copies look that bad.

I just bought a seperate steel boned corset to go under my Landy dress. No amount of 'proper' boning was going to make me look like the models in the official pics anyway lol :rotfl::rotfl:

Exactly!! Sometimes they stuff card down the front and back to make sure the bodice stays rigid!! Photos can be "doctored" to get the best picture!

I have already bought a very very very heavily boned corset for under which ever dress i get...
Its not so much the corsety that had drawn me to Hollywood dreams dresses...its the "big puffyness" which is exactly what i want....
so i guess it wouldnt be a dissapointment if the corset wasnt the best in the world.
