I think I'd ask him to phone them to break the news and say you'll follow it up with a call when you're in the right frame of mind, that way he'll know that he needs to be clear about what's happened.
(not saying he'd lie to them but the truth sometimes get twisted in these situations)

anyone got any experience of using plaster of paris? I was thinking about making some toadstools for DD's fairy party to go out in the garden/outside bit. I thought with plaster of paris you normally used like wire fence stuff...not sure what I could cover with paper mache...ok who thinks I am going OTT for a birthday party?
