Hiya all
I have an e-mail account for work that I'd like to be able to view at home on my pc.
Is this possible.
Have had a go but can't seem to complete it as I don't know what to put when the ask for my server info (pop3 it saying I need)
Hope this makes sense and that someone can help me

It all depends how your email is stored at work.
If you connect to a pop3 mailbox that is stored online untill your email client downloads it that you can use https://www.mail2web.com enter your email address and the mailbox password and you should be able to see any new emails that you have received since your last check on the pc at work. all you need is the password and emaill address, sometimes you may need to use the username for the account as the bit before the @ in the email address but that should work.
If your using Outlook (not outlook express) you may be on an exchange server, your IT admin will need to configure external use of web outlook for you if you want to check it that way. The advantage of this is that you will also have access to any email that is stored in your sent items and received email.
Outlook can also be configured for a pop3 account so you need to check
go to outlook or outlook express and click tools at the top, select accounts and then in outlook 2000 or outlook express hopfully you will have a mail tab double click that and go to the servers page it will tell you the server addreses and your username but your password will be hidden.
if it is configured for exchange then it wont have the tabs it will have the services page and a username which is your network login will be displayed insite the connection properties. Its been a few month since I used exchange and 2003 outlook so I cant describe that to you.
what ever you do dont configure your email client to receive the email at home, the pc will download the emails and you wont receive them at work unless you turn the leave messages on the server option on.0 -
You could create a rule at work to forward copies to your home e-mail0

That is a good option but it requires the pc to be left on all the time and outlook/outlook express to be open and the pc logged on/in which some companies see as a security risk. It also leaves a trail that they can see that your seeing the email at home0 -
Has work an email adress for webmail i.e http://webmail.yourworksaccount.com
Then enter email address name and password then forward it onto your personal address.0 -

I think that would be better phrased to say don't forget to leave messages on the server.
I can access all the office e-mail accounts at home and leave them on the server for two days so that they are always downloaded at work. Works absolutely fine so no reason not to do it as long as you remember to put the settings in.0 -
Little J,
If the work system is using exchange server, then the PC doesn't need to be on, the exchange server will forward according to the rules set.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
