bt vision help

My parents could not decide between sky and bt for the phone, broadband and tv. I had bt vision so phoned up and got the whole deal set up for them. 3 months down the line they finally tried to use their on demand and to cut a long story short they were told by bt they could not use od because their signal was not strong enough. So BT cancelled the whole thing and now they cannot access any channels on their box or in fact use it at all (despite having bt broadband) Phoned bt today and they said they could reinstate it but they would have to now pay for the box (that they already have). What is more they cannot now go to sky for the package as they are tied in to the phone and broadband part of bt. I thought the service was free to broadband customers and think this is grossly unfair to charge them extra for the box when it was BT's error in the first place. Got cut off from them today so have to phone them back.Has anyone had any dealings with BT vision and could possibly advise

they should have done a check on the line prior to ordering BTVision to ensure that they had a linespeed of at least 2 Mbits , if this was not done then it should never have been ordered for them in the first place
