  • I haven't had time to catch up - so sorry

I finished painting the bathroom - took longer than I thought as I could only find a brush that was too big and very heavy or a tiny brush - should be for the edges - needless to say i used the larger brush and now my arm hurts.

On a good note I didn't fall off the bath when I balanced on it to reach the ceiling - there is a problem of being too short even on the two step ladders...... It looks like it will need at least another coat if not too - problem of using the cheap homebase paint that I already had - should have used proper bathroom paint but have not extra money to buy more paint - so needs must.

Right I must go to bed now as I have 2 home visits to do tomorrow and lots of driving and I have been up since 5.20am!!

    sleep well all

Wooohooo finally caught up on all of last weeks thread :rotfl: just in time for me to go to bed and be AWOL at paid work for the nest couple of days!!!!!

Anyway VERY belated hugs, congratulations, commiserations as appropriate for last week.

Had a busy day but not a lot done IYKWIM. Saw work friend's cute baby (12 weeks old already), had the windscreen repaired at the shopping outlet I popped into on the way home. Picked up a pressie for niece who is 14 today and some chocolate from the factory shop :D

This evening Miss A and I have collated all her cub camp stuff together ready to be packed properly tomorrow night. Once they were both in bed I rang a friend and had a good catch u. Finished catching up on here and now about to put eye drops (for hayfever) in for my itchy eyes and drop into bed to read for a bit.

Will try and keep up to date tomorrow night, have a good day everyone. x

My 5 things for the week

    1. [STRIKE]Clear desk (seeing as Pigpen says I have to )[/STRIKE] :j
    2. Clear utility surfaces, put on two new doors & change outside lightbulb
    3. Make wedding cake  by Friday morning ... second batch under construction, so on track to do this!
    4. Update finances - ING account cancelled
    5. Start (at least) new versions of CVs - current version posted on Monster & Jobsite (and responses coming in!)

For the rest of today I need to:
    [STRIKE]
    1. do a load of laundry
    2. deal with banking - cancel ING DD (I thought I'd done this) and close account ; transfer money into new current account; find out why payment to SiL to be was rejected
    3. make one batch of wedding cake... do I do the easy or difficult bit first?
    4. get ready for governors' meeting
    5. walk another 13000 odd steps... [/STRIKE]

All done... should make my steps total after doing a few circuits round the block in the dark (the neighbours will think I'm mad if anyone spotted me!) and running up and down stairs a lot while dealing with the various bits of the cake and getting ready for tomorrow...

Valli - I don't do glass floors either. And, the dog don't do open stairs. Just reminded me of the week NN and I had in Derbyshire a couple of years ago. The stairs were v. steep and open. I had to carry BB up every night because she wouldn't do them. And if I'd left her downstairs she'd ony have winged. After two days she did decide she could go DOWN them which was actually a great help.. but I had to carry her up every night for a week.

    Jo - You've done well

Off to bed now all. Sleep well!

I haven't slept much, having realised that although I made the most difficult layer of the cake first, and it appears to have worked, I got the middle (and less difficult) one wrong...

... and having been up since THREE worrying about it, I'm right. I read my recipe wrong and put too much butter & syrup in, so it won't set.

As I'm at a conference until 3.30 today, I'm waiting until 6am to text a friend to see whether her daughter is around today and will do some shopping for me if I pay for her time & expenses! I need her to go to Winchester for chocolate, and also get syrup, butter, raisins and biscuits, as I don't have enough of anything to do a second batch (in fact, I don't think I've even got enough biscuits to do the third layer... )

In the meantime, I've managed to tidy quite a bit of the utility room. At which point I also realised that the replacement cupboard door I've got is the wrong size  and that in order for the other door to close I'm going to need to take down one of the wall cabinets and cut it down slightly. Oh well... at least I know now! I also can't quite work out why one of the doors (which was fine until my dad decided that it should open the other way) isn't straight, as all the hinges that I've put on have been pretty much impossible NOT to get straight! I might try turning it back round again and see what it looks like then...

So I can see a stressful day ahead, and I suspect that by Saturday I'll be shattered! Hopefully I'll be able to get the help with the shopping, and can have an early night tonight...

So... what next... I think it's probably too early to go for a walk, so I might just have to put on a load of washing and do the ironing :D I certainly don't feel like going to the gym this morning, as I know I won't hear back from my friend immediately, and don't want to risk not hearing the phone!
