we have just, well no hubby has just sanded our conservatory pinewood floor to re-varnish, it was in a state thru our dogs claws!!!!! hes no longer with us :0(. its taken him 3 days with a belt sander and still not finished looks really good though.... what floor varnish to use? have read up on the ronseal diamond hard floor varnish £60 for 5L- but mixed views, and after all the hard work sanding want to choose the right one.
what would anybody recommend, live in south wales any ideas as to where we can purchase a 5L tin of good varnish

Have a look at this. We've used it on doors but have heard it is brilliant for floors. Easy as pie to use - brush on, wipe over with cloth.0

I have only once used Ronseal and it wore in no time at all with light usage. What i used before and since and is front of me now as i type is Aquathane Granwax Gloss (comes in silk and matt too) water based, very easy to apply and absolutely indestructable! I cannot rate this higher, i have used in two of my own houses, and two friends, all still as good as new in heavy usage environments..0

I would recommend DULUX DIAMOND GLAZE for floors, its applied easily and forms a hard top layer to the floor.I personally wouldn't use an oil on a pine floor, the reason being pines are softwoods and are damaged easily , oil finishes are fine on hardwood floors though.
Diamond glaze is a water based finish and looks milky white in the tin.You can re-coat after about 4 hrs too.You can also lightly rub down between coats if you want that smoother finish.
Edit: also recommend Blackfriars Traditional woodstain. Its oil based finish ,its excellant for hardwearing ,you can buy clear with a satin finish as opposed to a gloss ....0 -

Totally agree- we've used Polyx waxoil on lots of wooden surfaces including floors. Brilliant stuff.0 -
Des def Osmo Polyx, it's the best. Price around though for it, some of the prices vary considerably. I got 2.5Lt of it for £45, it sound dear but it will stretch more than a 5Lt of Floor varnish will.
Alternatively, Johnstone's Trade Woodworks do a floor varnish (5Lt) for around £35. It's tough and hardwaring and very much like the Ronseal Diamond... but much better.... but, I still think the Osmo is best.0 -

How often does the osmo need re doing? Is it just a roller brush to apply?0
