Done my weekly shopping yesterday, went to the checkout, put my card in the keypad, entered my number and was told by the checkout girl it wouldn't take my card and to do it, so I took the card out and put it in again entered the pin number and this time it accepted it.
Last night I went onto my internet banking and saw 2 transactions for the same amount, so it did take first time.
I went back to tescos today with my receipt, told the manager what had happened and now they want a bank statement, a mini statement from the cashpoint isn't good enough, so now I've got to go to my bank tomorrow get a statement and then go back to tescos again. Problem is I don't think the transactions will show on the statement as being from tescos, until probably Tuesday.
Wouldn't mind if I got an apology, didn't get anything from them today, for their own stupid mistake.

what exactly do you want
your getting in a bother about nothing really
so the cashier made a mistake, and they will correct it and most probably give you a full apology and maybe compensation in the form of clubcard points or vouchers IF you can provide proof
as far as im concerned your getting mad about something that hasnt happened yet
large supermarkets are usually quite good in these sort of issues.
(do ask for fuel costs to the bank though, providing it was a special trip for that purpose only)Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -

maybe the op wants to pay just ONCE for the shopping i know i wouldnt be very happy if this happened to me. while i agree it will get sorted out you dont know the op s situation . not many people budget for double the price of their shopping. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. It's unlikely both transactions will actually come out it sounds like pre-authorised amounts.
The tills are made so that transactions can't go through more than once.0 -

If your reply cannot be nice, has an underlying issue, or you believe that you are God, please post in another forum. Thank you0 -
Yes, it is a nuisance having to go back again but why dont you just print a statement off from your computer tomorrow. You dont have to go to the bank then.
Its always best to watch the card reader yourself when you put your pin in.
It should say 'transaction complete, remove card' Bet you watch it from now on eh.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

Thanks to everyone who gave me constructive advice.
What I want is my money, whilst I understand it was a mistake I didn't budget for paying for my shopping twice.
I will look on the statement tomorrow, hopefully it will correct itself.
Sorry if I ranted in the wrong place, it won't happen again.0 -
