Evans sold my bike to someone else!

If it was me, I would have to accept that it probably was a mistake that they sold the same bike twice. However they should now offer you another bike of the same or better spec for the same price, if the retailer has any decency at all.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0

The OP is surely the injured party here? He liaised properly with the store, the store cocked it up and sold HIS property to another customer. I can quite see how he's miffed over this.
They haven't got another bike of the same mdel so clearly they are in a bind. They can't produce one out of thin air. However, just giving him his money back does not fit the situation if they want to do the right thing by the customer. They need to admit their mistake, apologise and get their staff to check with all their other stores to see if anyone has the right model. If they really can't find one then a refund - plus a reasonable ex gratia payment to make up for the !!!! up - or the offer of a higher spec bike at no extra charge would be appropriate.
The company needs to do something to ensure that , in spite of the unfortunate mistake, they end up with a reasonably happy customer, not one who will never go near their shop again and will likely tell all his mates about the carp service! Occasional mistakes are inevitable - the trick is to put it right without making the customer feel like an unwelcome pain in the a***.ELITE 5:2

Are you sure they sold it maybe the person you spoke to didn't realise that the bike is there awaiting collection. I would call back and speak to someone else to double check.0

What do you want them to do?0

So what happened?
Blasted of an angry email to head office. Two days later receive a call to say they have managed to get me the model i orginally ordered (pretty easy for them as manufacturer still lists it as a current model). Plus as an added bonus i willl be getting a discount to compensate for their errors.
Lesson for all the naysayers above.0 -

Thats EXACTLY what should have happened and I'm really glad the company did the decent and sensible thing. Well done for getting a good resullt - you had every right to expect this to be sorted satisfactorily and I really don't understand why you got all the flak!ELITE 5:2
