Wrong date on Speeding ticket S172 Notice

Hi, Received an Intention to prosecute S172 notice, the car registration is correct but there is no way I could have been driving the car on the date given (20th June 2009) as it was sat outside my flat with a flat battery which I only got fixed last weekend. I have never received one of these before, any idea what I do with it now? I was going to fill it in with a covering letter or am I best off trying to speak to someone? Thanks

They cannot now issue a corrected NIP. They are past the 14 days required to serve a NIP on the Registered Keeper.

I suggest you get on to https://www.pepipoo.com where someone will be able to tell you what to do next.
