Thanks Fergie (Owen good or bad??)
So the police seize them for no insurance - i just thought they give the car back to the owner when he/she has paid there fine and prosecuted etc???0 -
Good squad player especially for free, as long as stays fit!!
Once seized the owner has 14 days to reclaim there vehicle alot dont due to the costs involved i.e. release fees/storage costs etc, its often not worth it for older cars. Sometimes people simply dont bother or cant due to lack of licence cant get insurance etc. At which point they become property of the home office, if they are valued at less than (i think its about £2000) they are crushed if not they are sent to auction.
Other seized cars include ones seized under the proceed of crime act these are normally top of the range bmw's, range rovers etc with blacked out windows and pimped up wheels owned by the local drug dealer.0 -
Excellent thanks Fergies_army
Newport Auctions have this week started doing them and I was curious as i'm in the market for a new car. I've always been a bit skeptical about auction cars as you hear some horror stories but the seized ones seem ok from what you say.
I suppose I wont get a seized auction car for under £1000 though but I guess you get what you pay for.0
