A&L 10% Savings Account

Hi all, my first post here. Just opened an A&L Premier Direct Current Account and have just got internet bankning logins through post. When logging in, I noticed that they have opened 2 savings accounts for me, the one that pays the 10% and a Plus Saver which pays 4% ish. Now I'm not sure if they did this deliberately but they only registered the Plus Saver Account for internet banking, so maybe they were hoping I wouldn't realise and use the Plus Saver account instead of the high interest one. Maybe wise to check if any of you have just open these accounts.

Yes, they did it deliberately. When you open a Prem Direct current account they will automatically open the Plus saver Account for you. You can adjust your settings to 'hide' this account from view.0 -
They opened one for me too. The reason I figure is when the 12 months is up for the regular saver account, they dump all the balance into the normal savings account.
Your regular payments will go through to the regular saver 10% one automatically.
You can use the other saver if you want, the current account pays 5% up to first £2,500 so you should probably put any amount over that into the normal saver (but you can find a better paying instant access acount elseware).0 -

Do you have anything in mind for the better paying instant access account fishbulb? It is unwise to pay too much but it's worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, all you lose is a little money... that is all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot...it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better (John Ruskin - 19 ctry author, art critic & social reformer)0 -

Another option ruth would be to open a regular saver with the halifax at 7% transfering money from your A&L account.
Sorry just noticed you said instant access, but just in case you want to think about it i'll leave it here for you.0 -
