Arrangement to pay

Hi, Not sure if this is the right place for this but here goes.........
I have an arrangement to pay with a catalogue, I have had it for 8 years and it shows on my credit report as AP, now I am in a position to clear it, and no doubt it will be marked as satisfied or whatever, but my question is how long will it remain on my file (Its already been on there 8 years) and more importantly for how much longer after it is satisfied will it effect my credit with lenders ?.
