Thanks

I think you'll find a mention or two among the threads collected here, and plenty of recipes too :)

ladygrey - *all* breads that you bake in a BM can be made in an oven ... simply put the programme onto "dough" setting then take it out and bake. Converting the other way is slightly more tricky and I've yet to find a formula other than reading a traditional recipe and trying it out.

Not a book, but until you find one the site site linked below has lots of recipes and tips for both breadmakers and hand baking:-

I got my Pan 253 on Tuesday :j and i have made at least 8 loaves already. I am experimenting with all the recipes in the book that came with it. So far so good.

Did you get a recipe book with yours? There are so many good recipes in it. PM me if you didn't get one and I'll give you some of them.

Tomorrow I am going to try Hot Cross Buns.

    Thanks alot for your replies.

Thanks for the offer Fluffynit I did get the booklet with it - it's been constant reading so far, the bacon & cheese loaf sounds yummy for Sunday morning breakfast (if only I wasn't on weight-watchers!). I tend to go a bit crazy when I buy a new kitchen gadget and have to buy a few books on the subject although I'm then spolit for choice and never can decide what to make. Perhaps I should just stick with the receipes in the booklet for now.

Yesterday I made a Sundried Tomato bread that just needed water as the rest was already in the packet - just something easy to start with and that was lovely.

Although today I made a bit of an error, thought I'd just go for a basic white loaf but it came out tasteless and a bit like a brick. I then remembered half-way through putting the ingredients in the pan my little 'un needed to use the loo and I forgot to add the salt when we returned, I also realised I'd used the wrong yeast, only I could pick up the yeast that states 'not suitable for breadmachines'...doh ! Anyway not to be disheartened I tried again this time with the right yeast and fingers crossed it looking good so far and smells divine.

    Thanks

I've got a nice little paperback called 'Fresh Bread in the Morning from your Bread Machine' by Annette Yates, only £3.99. No pictures, but some good recipes.
I got mine a couple of years ago from Sainsbury's but I see they have it on Amazon.

Hi I would like to invest in a Breadmaker, can I ask where you got yours from and how much you paid?
    Thanks!

    Hi Josie_jump,

I just bought "The ultimate Braed machine cookbook" - looks great, and the tray bread I made from it was delicious. It wasn't a cheap book, but its a nice big hardback - £13 on amazon.

  • We purchased an ex dem Panasonic 255 from an auction on Saturday for £10. Made 2 loaves out of the manual so far(which I had to print from Panasonic's website). They were terrific.

The manual has loads of recipes in it, which could be used for any BM.
go to the panasonic website, support, downloads, type in the model sd255, and bob's your uncle
