Tv issues, signal?

Hi, wondering if somebody on here can offer some advice, I have a Technika TV from Tesco and its about 2 years old, I'm using the built in freeview tuner.
Recently its being doing some funny things, broken picture and sometimes loosing signal altogether. I put it down to the TV getting on a bit and being on the way out, we can all agree it aint the best bit of kit but I have been reading some of the threads on here and I think it may be a signal issue.
Is it possible that the signal strength is too strong, we live on top of a hill directly opposite a mast in the borders. Both this TV plus another in the house are attached to a loft aerial with no amplification but my signal strength for many channels is 100% and all are above 90%.
Just wondered if anyone could offer their opinions, cheers.

Its possible that the tv itself has an inbuilt amplifier. Is there nothing in the settings?:idea:0

It may simply be atmospherics due to the weather, it causes chaos with TV Signals.0

If you still receive analog, try an old tv,to look at your received signal,if it is ghosting badly, the problem is your aerial. Yes, your signal can be 'too strong' it will overload the tuner in the tv. You can buy attenuators to fit in line with the aerial lead.
Trees in leaf can play havoc with signal as as well if they are near the reception path.
Analog is good for basic aerial problems as you can see if there is an issue. With Digital its either ok or nothing!
If you now only have digital in your area, try an indoor aerial, pointed at the transmitter, try a couple of scans,if the results are better than your outdoor aerial, that's your problem.
Consider putting an aerial in the loft if you are close to the transmitter.Weather in time will degrade aerials
Hope that helps.never put off buying a bargain today,it may be gone tomorrow0
