Faulty chairs from Argos

Options
Hi

Grateful for any advice. I've got some dining chairs bought from Argos.co.uk under 2 years ago. They've been used infrequently but over the last few months I've started to notice the plastic support struts that form part of them are falling to pieces and one has now come off.

I called Argos but they said that as it is over a year I need to get an independent report. Who would I go to for such a report - would my local Trading Standards be the best people to recommend someone? How much is a report likely to cost? Although it seems like an inherent design flaw, the set of 4 chairs was £139.99 so I don't want to pay a massive amount for a report and then find I don't get anywhere with the claim!

Any suggestions gratefully received :)

well you just need to ring around furniture shops and see if they know anyone good

then get a quote for a report and outweigh the risk

if you get the report and it comes back wear and tear, your out of pocket for 4 chairs and the fee

if it comes back faulty then you can make a claim and 99.999999999999% of the time you will win, and you will be able to reclaim the cost of the report
    Back by no demand whatsoever.
