eBay pulled my listing....

I was listing a smal Radley coin purse for sale which I picked up at a car boot sale, and I've had an email this morning from eBay saying they've pulled the listing due to trademark breach. I have absolutely no reason to suspect it's not genuine - any ideas why they would do this?
I have emailed them to ask but don't hold out much hope of getting a useful reply, as every other time I've asked them a question I get 'you may want to look at some of these help pages'....

Some companies who sell grossly overpriced tat (such as Radley for example) make use of Ebay's VERO system:
http://pages.ebay.co.uk/vero/index.html
Basically, they can stop you and me from selling their products, new or second hand, on eBay.
It's either that, or another seller has reported you, to protect their own sales.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
Goodness, I didn't think Radley was on their hit list? A few years back I sold lots of Radley items without any problems at all..
Personally I would phone Live help and ask them whay Radley can't be sold. Also just double check the VERO pages in case they are registered there now as you would then need permission to resell.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I went through the help pages and found a bit that said 'If your listing has been pulled throught the VeRo system, the VeRo users email address will have been on the email we sent you.
No sign of it though

I don't particularly like the VeRO system as I feel it's open to abuse. Not a brand name, but a few years ago I had a bad experience with someone on eBay who had registered the band Cocteau Twins to VeRO. She runs a band website, which is not official and she was selling unofficial DVDs. I bought one from her but later tried to sell it on eBay. She got the auction pulled using VeRO, which infuriated me as she had been selling them herself on eBay for huge sums.
A bit of digging around showed that it was her company who "owned" the copyright to the band so she was ensuring only she could sell this DVD or any other semi-official releases. I don't know if this was ever rectified by the band or any of its record labels, which angered me all the more. It was supreme hypocrisy, especially as she didn't pay the band for any of the DVDs she sold. I know bootlegs are a grey area, but to this day I don't know how she managed to claim copyright on the band. The fact she did proves to me it can't be too hard for anyone to try it!0 -

Not being funny... but do you have any solid reason to believe that it's genuine? My TV is broken!

It looks very well made, has the radley logo and brand printed on it. I know there are plenty of fake designer goods around but I did check it very carefully for any signs that it might not be genuine. I guess I have more reason to believe it's real, than someone who HASN'T seen it has reason to believe it's fake, IFKWIMNo, Mr A, that is NOT 'Great news'!!

I'm not expert on designer stuff / fakes but I believe there are some telltale signs that give items away.
I can't vouch for this article, but it may help:

Oh dear - if the article is right, then perhaps I have been trying to sell a fake after all. My coin purse has the logo printed on the dog.
Thanks fay for the link anyway, I'll crawl back under my stoneNo, Mr A, that is NOT 'Great news'!!
