Hi
fed up queueing at post office and also think the clerk is not very generours when the weight / size is borderline (I literally ahd to shove an envelope thorugh the slot to prove to her it fitted on friday)
I see I can print postage labels....
do i just print this on to normal paper and sellotape on?
what are peoples experience of this?
what happens if I have printer failure?
cheers

I always use this method, its so much easier. You can either print on normal paper and sellotape it, or some people use stickers. When it has printed, you get the option to say it was successful or not, so if it fails you can either try again or cancel it.
If you click it printed successfully (as I have done) and then realised it has failed, you can apply for a refund which takes about 2 weeks. Its dead simple, you just need an accurate set of scales to work out your weight.#
Hope this helps:kisses2:

thanks Imso.
Most of what I sell is a repeat product and I do know the price, although not the weight.....
can i still go ahead, whilst I wait for accurate scales?
also any idea where I source acruate scales from?
thanks0 -
For items I can afford to lose I use the royal Mail online system. You do need a weight though before you can print the postage but if you have repeat goods you could take the weight of a previous post office receipt maybe?
However, remember you have no proof of posting and in the event of a claim RM will not refund based on the fact that you have printed postage online, that emrely proves postage was bought not that an item was posted. For recorded or special deliveries you must still go to the pO and have your barcode input in their system.
I bought my scales from Argos for less than a tenner.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I print my postage online, then print the Cert of Posting, take it to the PO to be initialled and stamped. It means I still have to stand in the queue, but I'm not at the counter for hours on end feeling the laser-stares of the people waiting boring into my back!!No, Mr A, that is NOT 'Great news'!!
Wombling totals: Oct = £243.32 - £93.32 over target!
Nov Wombling Tally: £27.36 so far... behind target0 -
I'm thick skinned, I never mind the lazer stares. One glorious Christmas when there was virtually a rebellion of people telling me I should be ashamed of sending parcels when they just wanted to get their pension or buy a single stanp for Australia the post mistress came out and shouted at them all. She said she was borderline for closure and the reason she stayed open and not the one 5 streets away was because she welcomed ebayers and the other did not. She reminded them very forcefully that If all us ebayers went away then she would shut and they would have to get a bus to the next town for their pension..and would that make them ** happy.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I wish mine felt the same, however when I used to pay for postage over the counter they seemed to resent me as much as the queue didNo, Mr A, that is NOT 'Great news'!!

I normally print my own postage from the Royal Mail website as well. As said before, if I am sending something particularly expensive, I would normally go to the post office to send recorded delivery etc, but I have had no problems.
I tend to print directly onto labels (I got a huge amount of 2x2 labels from ebay for a fraction of the retail price) which I find saves a bit of time instead of printing onto paper and sellotaping. Once or twice my printer has failed or the labels have got stuck, but the label is viewed on pdf format, so can be re-printed.0 -
You could always just buy the stamps and stamp up your parcels at home. Ths is my preferred method as it's quicker and cheaper than printing it yourself. Not only because of costs incurred from printing but I buy my stamps from CostCo where a first class stamp is 5.2p cheaper than the PO.

Someone mentioned about it failing and then trying again? Am i right in thinking you could print multiple stickers with just paying the one charge?0

They would all be the same weight and to the same address though, and i'm sure the PO have some way of identifying fraudulent users.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
