    Thought I would chip in.

Experian and Equifax normally report 36 months. Call credit 72 months.

However, once the account is closed the previous history remains on file for 6 yrs. So potentially someones report with Experian or Equifax could have data on for 8 yrs and 11 months. For call credit, 11 yrs and 11 months. Wow thats scary!

YB, never heard of Equifax reporting 4 yrs. Is that a new policy, or is it due to you closing an account a yr after starting it, 3 yrs ago?

If new, thats a double edged sword isn't it. For example if you have recently got into credit problems due to recession, an extra yr of reporting could be useful, except of course if it was bad history!
