Hi All!

I was bought a bottle of perfume from the local PERFUME SHOP by my partner as a GIFT, however once i had received the gift i told my oh that i already had this type. Went back to the shop for exchange but was told i could not have an exchange as i had no reciept? Is this correct?

Thanks for any help

    In a nutshell... yes.

The shop is under no obligation to replace an item unless it is faulty or unsatisfactory due to e.g having been misdescribed. I would presume that they require the receipt in order to ascertain the original cost of the item.

I smell a troll here anyone else? Of course you need a receipt, how else will they know you bought it and didn't nick it so you can return it?

Thanks for ur reply Halloway. I have returned unwanted gifts in the past without a receipt at other retailers tht is why i was unsure. Just have to get oh to check my perfume supplies in future!! :rotfl:

You are a newbie asking what is a pretty obvious question, you can't blame me for thinking that.

It may seem like simple question to you but as i stated in previous posts, i have exchanged gifts before without this problem!! Regardless of how obvious the question seemed to you it obviously wasnt to me, hence the reason for the post in the first place!! ;)

Considering how expensive perfume is, it's a high risk item that people shoplift and then return for a refund so I would have thought you would always need a receipt.

I asked an honest question to a little problem i had. yes perfume is high risk, however i am not in the habit of stealing perfume or whatever u are trying to imply!
In future i ll know not to post anything on this site, being judged for a asking 'what seemed' like an obvious question. You maybe shouldnt be so narrow minded. If it was that obvious i wouldnt have asked in the 1st place. I asked for help in returning the unwanted item not have snide remarks, thanks vey much melorabalck

You have misread melorablack's remarks - it wasn't implied in that post that he/she was referring to you, it was a general statement.
