Keyboard has flounced...

Help! I was using the desktop this morning, no problems. OH switched it on a moment ago, and had no problems logging onto his desktop. However, after that stage the keyboard just stops doing anything.

I've switched usb ports- same as. Ran through the found new hardware wizard at that stage too. Any ideas, you lovely techie peeps?

Thanks in advance :D

Mine does this too occasionally, for no apparent reason. It seems to be due to some USB weirdness in Windows (the "wizard" was the clue it's a Windows machine).

The way I've found to get going again is to switch right off - at the PSU switch on the back of the machine, or the plug if you don't have one - and go make some coffee. Once it's had time to consider the error of its ways (30 seconds is enough, but coffee helps soothe me), when I turn it back on it's OK again.

While it doesn't in any way help diagnose the problem, it works - and it's not a perfect world, is it?

    Just something to try. :)

Thanks Smiley- we turned it back on & tried another user account- and it works :dunno: although on yet another account- the keyboard does all sorts of weird stuff as though it's had shortcuts set.

"Press S for Spontanious Combustion"- that kinda stuff.

I'll go put the kettle on- or better still, it may be Torres time!:rotfl:
