Hello,
i work with adults with learning disabilities, supporting them to use computers.
Im pretty PC savvy - however, Ive come-a-cropper on this one
Basically, I have one chap who likes to click on random stuff, and today he managed to download alot of files. Luckily, none of them viruses but Im obviously worried hes going to download something dangerous.
Excluding all the anti-virus, firewall software etc. Is there anyway of disabling anything from downloading? (Im using firefox atm)
Thanks in advance
Laurie

Not sure you can stop him from downloading completely, however you could set firefox up (for his profile) to always download files to a hidden folder.
Go to tools, then options, the click the downloads tab. Choose the "save all files to this folder" and make a folder somewhere, eg. "C:\Temp\DeleteTheseFiles" and select that folder. If you unclick the "show download manager" option as well it should all happen without him knowing and you can then delete the files afterwards.- = I also recognise the Robins and beep for them = -0 -
You can use zonealarm-pro to block exe's, (block mime-type integrated objects setting)

you can turn it off at will..Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
Thanks for those, some great ideas.
I dont know if we can stretch to zone alarm pro atm, however, what Im thinking is maybe I can set the download target to a shared folder over the network, that shared folder being accessed by my PC, meaning I can see whats downloaded, and scan it as it comes in :-)
Thanks everyone

Their is a freeware program called Bufferzone, which might help & can be downloaded at download.com.0
