Child care grant entitlement for students?

I know about the child care grant you can apply for if you are a student (instead of applying through the child tax credits system), and that you can get up to 85% of child care costs paid for. But, all I can find out is that it is for students with a 'low household income'.
Does anyone have a clue at what kind of income level they provide help for? I am soon to have a baby and will be returning to work part-time next year and my hubby is a student. I would like to be able to find out if the huge chunk of my wage that I will be sacrificing for child care fees, I'll be able to get back at all.
Thanks

Give the place that you got your bursary/ fees from a call, usually the education Dept , also if you have high cc you could try to get extra help form the college funds( cant remember wht it is called ) it may help yoiu if you have high cc. housing costs etc.0 -
i'm a student and get the child care grant. My boyfriend is self employed but I don't work so our income for the last tax year was approx 10000. I think when your combined salary gets to approx 14000 then you dont get the full 85% but if its over that then you should still get a percentage. Our nursery fees are £140 per week so we only pay about £30 towards it which is excellent for a full time nursery place. If you ring student finance direct they will normally give you a rough idea of the salary bands to which the amount you will recieve will apply. I also get parents learning allowance which is £1500 per year, and i think is based on income too, but its worth applying for everything in the hope of getting it! You can claim CTC and the childcare grant together but NOT WTC and CCG. Sio if your hours are under 16 per week then you can claim for both of them. CCG will pay up to 85% of your childcare and 3 times a year you have to give the nursery a form to fill in with details of exactly how much you've paid them.
Your partner may also be able to claim hardship funds from the Access to Learning Fund direct from his college/Uni - I think there's a thread on this floating around here somewhere.Noli nothis permittere te terere

again this isnt quite true. we get WTC and CTC but we dont claim the child care element of WTC as i dont work. if you get the child care element you cant get the childcare grant.:A Boots Tart :A0 -
yep same here. We get WTC on my partners income and CTC but don't claim the childcare element as it is only 70% where as the student support pay 85%.The best things in life are free - Janet and Luther:
