System Restore-not doing automatice restore points

Options
I have just discovered that my computer is not doing automatic restore points any more.
I just went in, and it said there were no restore points for today, and as there were none in April I clicked to go back to March -and it went back to November 2005.
I don't want to restore to November, and I just remembered that a friend installed spybot for me in November. I wondered if this might be anything to do with this.
I have Windows ME, I have more than 200mb of free space, which is what it says System Restore needs.
How can I get System Restore to work again please?

Turn restore on or off in ME http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;264887

It maybe turned off so it wont create automatic restore points.

    1. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
    2. On the Performance tab, click File System, or press ALT+F.
    3. On the Troubleshooting tab, click to select the Disable System Restore check box.
    4. Click OK twice, and then click Yes when you are prompted to restart the computer.
    5. To re-enable System Restore, follow steps 1-3, but in step 3, click to clear the Disable System Restore check box. ;)

When I did this my System Restore was already ticked disabled. So I unchecked the box, but I can't tick OK twice. I have three boxes- OK cancel & apply.
I've tried apply, the OK changes to closed so I tick that. I've tried clicking OK first, and I have redone all this loads of times and it is still disabled. Can anyone help further? Please.

after unchecking the box, click OK/apply>OK, restart your PC and check if its still dissabled. reply back wether it works or not. if it doesnt work, what OS are you using? do you have administrative access to your PC?

Just had another two goes, and the second time Spybot came up with a message about allowing a change so I said yes and its back!
So thank you very much for your time, even if you did grumble at me!
