Just to let anyone know who ordered this that ebuyer are sending out emails showing the full price of £68.99 instead of the one day special £54.99. I had a word with them, but the woman was about as useful as a chocolate teapot. She told me the they were aware of a problem, and everyone had been overcharged by £10??? Luckily, my paypal account is showing the right amount but it worried me for a while.0

Aren't the interface speed arguments a little academic considering the limiting factor is what the mechanicals of the drive can deliver - 60mbps-ish burst, and maybe around half that normally? It was a good deal! The thanks button is here to the right. If you find a post saves you money, gives you useful information, or you agree with it, take a second to thank the poster!

The drive itself might be close to 100 megabytes a second afaik
Try a utility called hdtune to compare speeds0 -

Actually I think you'll find they do, most PC's for the last few years have gigabit NICs in them. The chipsets are so cheap and they are backwards compatable you tend to get 10/100/1000 cards in most computers except the bargain basement cheapies.
Gigabit NAS is another thing entirely...0 -

Well, I'll actually eat my own hat. i've just got one of the Ebuyer NAS drives and it's got a Gigabit connection.
Now I've got a problem.
I want a DSL Modem Router with Wireless-N (for Xtreamer)
No problem, £32 from Ebuyer.
I want a DSL Modem Router with Gigabit.
No problem. £34 from Ebuyer.
I want a DSL Modem Router with Gigabit Ethernet AND Wireless-N
Try finding one with any sort of reputation for less than £100!
I'm wondering... if the chipsets are so cheap for 10/100/1000, why aren't there some cheap routers about? The smaller the monkey the more it looks like it would kill you at the first given opportunity.
