Samsung Q35 with Vista no sound?

Hi all

I've a Samsung Q35 laptop with MS Vista installed. I've set up the system to enter hibernation when I close the lid of the laptop.

Of late, I've got this strange issue that did not use to exist before.

When I open the lid and start the laptop, everything works as normal but there is no sound with any application e.q when I play any song through media player or any media files being played through internet explorer. Even files that were running when the lid was put down don't make a sound when the laptop is brought back from hibernation.

I have to either log off or restart or enter sleep mode and back and then the sound comes back to normal.
What could be the reason please? I am a new vista user here I must admit.

Thanks for your help in advance...

A high definition audio device may no longer work after you resume Windows Vista from hibernation or from sleep

It could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.

Thanks for your reply. It does seem spot on, however when I try to get the download to fix this issue, a dialog box opens to say, "not applicable" to my machine.

I've a windows Vista Home premium edition and I went for the 32 bit version of the fix.

    Any ideas?
    Thanks..
