What do you use? they keep getting clogged with hair and soap scrum making the water drain slowly, i have in the past used a plug hole cleaner for bathrooms but its £4 and will do the bath and sink once, i bet someone has a cheaper way.

OOH this is a job that i hate!
I have long hair and always end up with it stuck in the plughole, i wipe around it after each shower to get the surface hair but some inevitably goes down, if it`s left it builds soap scum up and is horrible.
I borrow a small pair of hubbys fishing forceps once a week and shove these down to pull any hair and afterwards i put some bicarb down the plug hole and pour vinegar down the drain.
This fizzes up and unblocks the plughole - works a treat

I've seen these little wire things with a hook on the end that you use to remove the hair, maybe you could make your own similar thing?D'you know, in 900 years of space and time, I've never met anyone who wasn't importantTaste The Rainbow :heartsmil0

Hi missm,
The water was draining very slowly from our shower last week and I thought it was probably blocked by dd's long hair. I squirted a bit of hair removal cream down the plug, left it for ten minutes, used a wooden barbeque skewer to give it a poke while rinsing the hair remover away with hot water. It worked like a dream and the shower is draining properly again.

Hair removal cream is just genius. Obvious really when you think about it! Am off to do it right now - thanks0

I've used the hair removal mousse stuff in the past and that works too - I found that it irritated my skin so I used it for cleaning the plugholes, and it's easy to squirt it down
Very moneysaving lol

i dont think squirting hair removal cream down the plughole is recommended, im sure i read somewhere about it breaking down the seals/silicone holding the pipes together

You can buy a hair catcher for the plug hole, I bought one for about £3 from kleeneze but I think you can get them on ebay and lots of places. Just leave it ontop of the plug whilst having a shower then take it off and remove the hair ready for next time.Moved in 12/09 Mortgage 126K0

The hair removal cream is a really good idea, wouldn't have thought of that! My shower/bath is draining really slowly, but there is no sign of hair in the plug hole, so I suspect something may be further down. I hate getting hair out of plug holes though (even mine) it actually makes me gag.Grocery challenge - Nov: £52/£100

I'm sure it can't be that bad - most of it ends up going down there anyway when it's used normally (albeit highly diluted). I'd certainly guess that it's a lot less damaging than bleach, and most people slosh that down plugholes much more regularly. I'd imagine that it'd be a problem if you used it every day, but who's that hairy?? :eek:0
