SKY - won't connect me due to 'IT fault'

Have been without phone, internet or TV since 18th June 2009.
My girlfriend pays the bill and she gets paid irregularly so occasionally she pays a few days late. She rang up to pay for the third time (due to problems with Sky), and the woman on the other end was extremely !!!!!y claiming if we missed a payment on a mortgage, we would lose our house (which is not a good comparison). I believe she 'did something' as after a couple of days of ringing someone discovered there was an IT fault.
Many calls later and they still can't connect, saying it's not their problem and IT have to sort it out. It's bad enough having to live without being able to use the phone and internet (to compound the boredom of not having the TV on), but having to deal with it because nobody knows what's going on. To me, that's a really crappy service, and it's taken over two weeks so far for the IT department to do something.

How can I take this further, surely there is something I can do with this?

I think you've discovered the sort of service you're going to get from Sky and should consider moving on.

However, a late payment history is a red flag to many compoanies.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

I suspect that they are fed up with you paying the bills late, paying late adds to their costs. They may have decided that they just don't want your custom anymore, but I would have thought that they would have told you this.

SKY have had enough with you as you don't pay them on time. How can anyone help with that?
