Broken tap help needed!

Hi,
Not sure if I've posted on the right board but the cold water tap on my shower is broken and I can't bare to have a boiling hot shower in this weather!
The knob (?) just spins around and around and nothing comes out. I don't know if there is a simple way of fixing it or if I need to get someone out to fix it for me?
Any suggestions???

Has it come off its 'spindle' ??
Rather than turn the knob, can you pull the head off
Is there a small 'cap' which you can prise off ??
or a small grub screw at the rear of the tap??
A photo would be nice :rotfl:0 -
I can't pull the head off to see what the problem is but I've just discovered that if I pull the knob up (with some force) as I turn it it seems to work.
I'm guessing something has come loose inside? If I keep doing the above will it get worse and eventually stop working???0 -

Yes
We really need to know what sort of tap you have.
Go to a large site .... screwfix !! and give us a link to a similar sort of tap0 -
sounds like the jumper has come off the spindle.
take it apart and refix it. simple enough job.

Hi
If you read through the link it tells you the retaining clip (if displaced) will stop the tap from opening or closing.;)
Strip the tap headworks down ,clean ,silicon grease and reassemble.
