How do I find out who wons my mums house?

Options
Hello,

My mum passed away recently. She owned a house which was bought out right. My parents divorced in 1996 and my father left and didnt lay claim to the house but I am getting a bit worried. What if his name is still on the deed? I remember her showing me something from the solicitor saying that the deeds had been transferred to her solely and am thinking that this is the reason that he couldnt lay claim to the house.

Can the name on the deed be different to the name on the land registry?

How can I find out who owns the house? I went ont he land registry website and they are charging 20 pounds for the title deeds of the property. I thought it only cost 3 pounds?

Thanks
