It was fine until I reinstalled my Excel 2003. I checked and the same happens in Excel 2007.

When I select a new cell I cannot enter "/" as the first or the only simbol.

However, the following 'tricks' do work:
  • copying another sell containing "/" in a new cell;
  • entering, for example, "a", "Backspace", "/", "Enter";
  • entering F2, "/", "Enter"
No problems with other keys including "\".
I tried different formats of the cells, old files and blank new SSs.

Any ideas?

    If you hit Tools => Options => Transition (tab) there's an option to use a single key for accessing the Excel menu.

    Simply set the current value of / to be blank and click OK :-)

    Could you check on the correctness of your signature?
    At least it should be "Te audire non possum"...!

    (Oh, and Chris Elvin's suggestion is entirely correct!)

    Sorry, what's that? I can't hear you! ;-)

    As you say, CE's suggestion is entirely correct and would have been my suggestion - but mine's a permanent fix rather than a work-around on a sheet by sheet basis.

    Cheers
