It was fine until I reinstalled my Excel 2003. I checked and the same happens in Excel 2007.
When I select a new cell I cannot enter "/" as the first or the only simbol.
However, the following 'tricks' do work:
I tried different formats of the cells, old files and blank new SSs.
Any ideas?
When I select a new cell I cannot enter "/" as the first or the only simbol.
However, the following 'tricks' do work:
- copying another sell containing "/" in a new cell;
- entering, for example, "a", "Backspace", "/", "Enter";
- entering F2, "/", "Enter"

Any ideas?

If you hit Tools => Options => Transition (tab) there's an option to use a single key for accessing the Excel menu.
Simply set the current value of / to be blank and click OK :-)te audire non possum. musa sapientum fixa est in aure.0 -

As you say, CE's suggestion is entirely correct and would have been my suggestion - but mine's a permanent fix rather than a work-around on a sheet by sheet basis.
Cheers
