merchandise interest??

hi guys,

I have a nationwide gold cc which i pay off in full every month. this month i notice a charge for merchandise interest of 2p!!
I have no charges for late payments and pay the full balance every month.
there is no point calling them up for this as the phone clal would cost more!

does anyone have any ideas why i would have this charge?
and also what is it for?

The most likely reason is that one of your transactions has been tagged a 'cash transaction'. Maybe gambling, foreign currency purchase, etc?

Less likely is an error on their systems.

nup nothing like that. only things purchaced in the last statement was a £3.20 purchase from a supermarket as i forgot my switch and cash(doh!!)

this time uk flights and insurance.

get a geographical number off https://www.saynoto0870.com then you can call from your mobile with inclusive minutes. i believ there's also an 0800 number on there too. Or call their credit card sales team on 0800 and ask to be put through
